An Expert says, “If your stomach is clear at any time of the day or except one day, then it is not normal. The stomach should be clean within an hour of getting up in the morning.

She further said, “Lack of fibre and nutrients in the diet, less intake of water, continuous sitting and working and eating lead to constipation. This not only causes many diseases related to the stomach, but you also become a victim of many other diseases like headaches, blisters in the mouth and rashes on the skin, pimples etc. In such a situation, to avoid the problem, we start taking medicines. But this can cause many side effects to the body. Yoga can be a good option to remove constipation.

Padottanasana

  • Lie down on your back.
  • Keep your hands on the side.
  • Join the feet together.
  • Then raise the legs to 30 degrees.
  • Breathe in and pause.
  • Hold this position for 10 seconds.
  • Then come back to the first posture.
  • However, in the beginning, you may find it a bit difficult to do this yoga.
  • If you find it difficult to do the asana with both legs, then you can start with one leg.

Advantages

  • Relieves constipation.
  • Stomach fat goes away.
  • Muscles become strong.
  • The problem of gas is cured.
  • Beneficial in sciatica.
  • The tension goes away.
  • There is strength in the ankle, knee and lower back.
  • Problems related to periods go away.

Caution

Avoid doing this yogasana during pregnancy and lower back pain.

Lying abdominal draw

  • Lie down on your back.
  • Keep the hands under the head.
  • Bend both legs together and rotate to one side.
  • When your feet are on the left, then the head should be on the right.
  • Do this yogasana from both sides.
  • Keep breathing and exhaling during the asana.

  • Removes belly fat.
  • Good for digestion.
  • Makes the spine flexible.
  • Relieves stress.

Other measures

  • Drink a glass of lukewarm water in the morning.
  • Make sure to include healthy fat i.e. ghee in the diet.
  • Take a diet rich in fibre.
  • Drink a sufficient amount of water.
  • Eat one fruit daily. Pomegranate and papaya are beneficial for constipation.
