According to the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology report, 141 patients suffering from anxiety or depression were included for this study. The participants were asked to choose between running therapy or antidepressant medications. Of the 141 patients, 45 opted for antidepressants, while the remaining 96 chose running. About 44% of participants in both groups experienced improvements in symptoms of both depression and anxiety. However, participants in the running group experienced improvements in depression symptoms as well as improvements in weight, waist fat, blood pressure, and heart function.
