World Lung Day is celebrated every year on 25 September. Its purpose is to spread awareness among people about lung health and related diseases. This day is especially celebrated to highlight the importance of lung care and to make people aware of lung diseases caused by tobacco, air pollution, and other factors.

The lungs are one of the most important organs of our body, as they work to breathe and deliver oxygen to the body. It is very important to take care of the health of the lungs, as bad lungs can cause breathing problems, asthma, chronic disease (COPD), and even lung cancer.

Yoga can help keep the lungs strong and healthy. These asanas not only increase the capacity of the lungs but also improve the circulation of oxygen in the body. Let us know some yoga asanas which are beneficial for the health of the lungs:

Bhastrika Pranayama

This pranayama increases the capacity of the lungs and improves the flow of oxygen. The practice of this asana cleans the lungs and removes problems like mucus. For Bhastrika Pranayama, sit straight inhale fast through the nose, and exhale fast. Repeat this process forcefully for 5 to 10 minutes.

Kapalabhati Pranayama

Kapalabhati is a wonderful yogasana for the lungs. It helps in purifying the lungs as well as removing unwanted elements stuck in them. To practice this asana, pull the stomach inward while exhaling fast through the nose. Do this for 10-15 minutes.

Dhanurasana

This asana is considered very beneficial for the lungs. It increases the expansion of the lungs and makes them stronger. Also, this asana increases the flow of oxygen in the lungs. To practice Dhanurasana, lie down on your stomach, hold your legs from behind, and stretch the body like a bow. Stay in this posture for a few seconds and release slowly.
