More than four years have passed since the ongoing global Corona epidemic. During this period, mutations occurred several times in the variants of Corona, and symptoms ranging from mild to severe were reported among the infected. The threat of Corona has still not stopped. According to recent reports, there has been a mutation in the virus once again, due to which the new sub-variant is being seen increasing the infection in many countries. According to local media reports in Singapore, an increase of more than 90 percent in Corona cases has been reported here in just two weeks.

Experts of the World Health Organization (WHO) have appealed to all people to continue taking precautions to prevent corona. The World Health Organization has also shared important information regarding the risks of Corona. In the report, WHO said that due to COVID-19, global life expectancy has decreased by almost two years. Life expectancy is an estimate of the average number of additional years that a person of a certain age can expect to live.

Life expectancy has decreased
The World Health Organization said significant improvements in life expectancy have been seen in the last decade. However, it has declined due to Covid-19. The United Nations Health Agency said in its report that the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously affected overall health; many types of diseases have also been seen developing in people due to the infection. These circumstances have caused great harm to life expectancy.

Due to Covid-19, global life expectancy has fallen by 1.8 years to now 71.4 years. Even in 2012, life expectancy was around this.

Impact of Covid-19 on overall health
Researchers at the World Health Organization reported that COVID-19 has had a more profound impact on overall health and life expectancy than any other event in the last half-century. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the figures highlight the importance of strengthening global health security and promoting long-term investment in health.

Covid-19 and death
The report of the health organization shows that in the initial phase of COVID-19, more than 15.9 million (1.59 crore) people died during the year 2020-2021.

Health experts said Covid-19 has been the leading cause of death during the pandemic. It was the third leading cause of death globally in 2020 and the second leading cause in 2021. The WHO report also highlights that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as ischemic heart disease and stroke, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Alzheimer's disease-dementia, and diabetes also caused a large number of deaths.

Risk of overweight and malnutrition
WHO experts said, Corona has not only directly caused serious harm to health, but the circumstances arising due to Covid-19 have also increased the burden of malnutrition across the world. Additionally, by 2022, more than one billion people aged five and older were living with obesity, while more than half a billion were underweight.

Malnutrition in children is also being seen as a serious health problem. All of these conditions can affect overall health and increase the risks of premature death.
