The fierce war between Lord Rama and Ravana not only established the Rama Rajya but also taught us the eternal lesson of the victory of good over evil. After Ravana kidnapped Sita, Lord Rama marched on Lanka with his huge monkey army and defeated Ravana. The monkey army played an important role in this victory, but a question often arises: what happened to the monkey army after the victory of Lanka?
Role of the monkey army:
The monkey army led by powerful warriors like Sugriva, Angad, Nala and Neel gave unwavering support to Lord Rama. In particular, Nala and Neel built the bridge from Rameswaram to Lanka. During the campaign, the army was divided into groups, each led by a general or Yuthapati.
What happened after the victory?
According to the Uttarakand of Ramayana, the monkey army returned to their respective territories after the war ended and Ravana was killed.
Coronation of Sugriva: Lord Rama crowned Sugriva as the king of Kishkindha. Sugriva, along with his nephew Angada, ruled the Vanara kingdom and contributed to its prosperity. Nala and Neel: These prominent leaders supported Sugriva's administration and continued their contribution as ministers in Kishkindha.
Why was there no further war?
After the war, Lord Rama proposed to integrate Ayodhya, Kishkindha, and Lanka. However, he refrained from expanding his kingdom, instead focusing on maintaining peace. The Vanara army disbanded and returned home, ushering in an era of peace. Legacy of Kishkindha: Located in present-day Karnataka, Kishkindha was the heart of the Vanara kingdom. The region is still known for its historical and mythological significance. Vanara leaders, including Sugriva and Angada, were also present at Rama's coronation in Ayodhya, after which they returned to their land, ending their role in major conflicts.
