If you use WhatsApp for messaging and chatting then there is no good news for you. The instant messaging platform is going to end its support for some smartphones from next month (October 24). WhatsApp says that it will stop supporting phones that are not running on Android OS 5.0 or above.
Why does Whatsapp support stop?
The company says that one of the oldest and least used phones will lose WhatsApp support. If your smartphone is one of them, it is better to update your device. Let us tell you that WhatsApp keeps updating iOS and Android apps from time to time with new features. But after some time, the company also stops support on many such devices, which work on very old OS. In such a situation, if your device has an Android OS less than 5.0, then you will not be able to use WhatsApp from October 24.
WhatsApp will run only on these devices
Android phones with OS 4.1 and above.
iPhones with iOS 12 and later.
Phones running KaiOS 2.5.0 and above, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
How to check your phone's Android OS version
To check the Android OS version of your phone, you have to go to the phone's settings, and then go to About Phone. From here you will have to go to software information. If your smartphone is running Android 4.0 or below, the messaging platform will end its support on that device in October. That means you will not be able to use WhatsApp.
Before ending your support, WhatsApp sends you a notification in advance, informing you that your device's operating system will no longer be supported. The company says you will also be sent a reminder to upgrade your device.
Some of the devices that will lose WhatsApp support from next month include phones like HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, LG Optimus G Pro, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC Sensation, Motorola Droid Razr, Sony Xperia S2.
