Big news has come for the users using WhatsApp. This may create a new difficulty for WhatsApp users. In the coming time, WhatsApp users will not get the benefit of unlimited storage on Google Drive.
Due to this, users will not be able to back up their chats. WhatsApp had signed an agreement with Google in the year 2018. Users get unlimited storage for WhatsApp chat backup apart from Google Drive storage.
However, now this agreement is ending. In such a situation, users will now be given access to limited Google Drive to save chats from Google. Now Google has decided to count the chat history backups of WhatsApp users in a limited cloud.
This will have a direct impact on Android users. This rollout will start from December 2023. After all the testing, its update will be released in the stable version.
If you enable WhatsApp backup on Android mobile, then it will get 15 GB of storage with a personal account. There will be no charge for this.
At the same time, if we talk about iPhone users, then they manage their backups by staying within the limits of their iCloud.
Now Android users will have to remain within the same limit in Google's account. Android smartphone users will continue to get the backup feature on WhatsApp. However, if you hit the storage limit, you will need to free up space.
For this, you can delete the old files that are not necessary or there is another option i.e. you can start buying storage.
