Many difficult tasks can be done very easily with WhatsApp, and keeping in mind the convenience of the users, the company also offers new features every day. Many features related to privacy are also provided in the app and now another special feature has come to the fore, which will further increase the security. The new feature is chat lock for linked devices.
WhatsApp had introduced the Chat Lock feature last year, and under this, it is possible to hide chats in the hidden folder through passcode, fingerprint or Face ID. Now the company is also introducing the chat lock feature for linked devices. Currently this feature is for Android beta version 2.24.8.4, and in the coming time this feature will also be introduced for linked devices.
WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo claimed that WhatsApp is working on a locked chat feature for linked devices and it will be available in an upcoming update. The publication has spotted a reference about the upcoming feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.8.4 update which is available through the Google Play beta program.
According to the shared screenshot, the app will allow users to set a secret code to access chats on the linked device. The secret code has to be set from the primary device by going to Chat Lock Settings>Secret Code option.
Chat Lock came last year
As mentioned, WhatsApp introduced a new chat lock feature in May 2023 and the feature is currently limited to primary devices. It gives users more control over their personal and group chats.
Neither the name of the sender nor the preview of the message will be visible in the notification of a locked chat. Users can view these hidden conversations in a separate locked chat folder, which can only be accessed through a passcode, fingerprint, and Face ID.
