Kongthong
About 60 km from Shillong, there is a small unique village named Kongthong in the East Khasi Hills area of Meghalaya. Each person in this village has a unique whistle-tune name that is used to call them.
All these tunes are usually given by the mother of the child immediately after the birth of the child. This is the reason why this village is also known as Whistling Village or Singing Village. The city is a favourite destination for nature lovers because of the surrounding lush green forests and hills.
Shnonpdeng
A small village called Shongpadeng is located in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. The area is known for its crystal-clear river and great activities like cliff jumping and camping. Due to its blue water and views of the surrounding mountains, this village is often visited by tourists. Here the water of the river is so clear that you can easily see the fish swimming here.
Riwai
This village is also one of the best places to visit in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. Which is situated about 80 km away from the state capital Shillong. Due to the presence of Niyamtrei Waterfall and Living Root Bridges, tourists from all over the world come to visit here.
Nongriat
Nongrit is one of the most famous villages of Meghalaya. The speciality of this place is that it is known as the only double-decker living root bridge in the world. This village located in East Khasi Hills district is very amazing and it is a different pleasure to visit here.
Mawsynram
Mawsynram is one such place, once you visit it, you will never be able to forget this place. One of the most beautiful villages in India, this lush green village in Meghalaya is officially known as the wettest place on earth. It receives an annual rainfall of 11,874 mm.
