We still do not talk openly about periods, physical relations, or intimate area hygiene and this is the reason why people shy away from talking about many problems related to it. Especially, women often bear the problems related to vaginal health silently and do not talk about it. But this is wrong. Like other parts of the body, attention should be paid to the hygiene of the private parts and the infections and any other problems related to it. The pH level needs to be balanced for vaginal health. Due to increase or decrease in pH level, there may be problems of infection, burning sensation, itching and bad smell in the vagina. To balance the pH level of the vagina, you should take the help of these tips given by experts. Cocoon Fertility's IVF consultant and endoscopic surgeon Dr. RajalakshmiWalawalkar is giving information about this.
What is vaginal pH?
The pH level of the vagina needs to be correct for vaginal health. The pH level is seen between 0-14 on the pH scale. When the pH is less than 7, it is acidic and when it is more than 7, it is alkaline. The pH of a healthy vagina should be around 4-4.5. However, it may fluctuate slightly during puberty and menopause. If the pH of the vagina is not correct, problems like vaginal infection, itching can occur.
