What is the UPI number?
A UPI number is a number confirmed by the bank which is the identifier of your UPI ID. Through this, we can transact money with any user, even if he is using the UPI of another app.
Users can create 3 unique UPI numbers from their one UPI ID, which can be their phone number or any 8-9 digit numeric ID of their choice. It is worth noting that the UPI number can also be of 10 digits but this will happen only when the user wants to make his mobile number as his UPI number.
It is also important to note that UPI users cannot receive payments from other apps through their phone number unless they set their phone number as a UPI number. However, they can still receive payments through their UPI ID. UPI numbers can be easily created on Google Pay and PhonePe.
