f you drive, your vehicle will also have FASTag. Therefore, to avoid problems at the toll, get these important things related to Fastag done before 31st January.
According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), from January 31, 2024, those Fastags whose KYC process is not completed will be invalidated. That is, if you have not yet got your FASTag KYC done, then you will have to update FASTag KYC as soon as possible.
Why has NHAI taken this step?
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken this step to take forward the campaign of One Vehicle One FASTag. The objective of this campaign is to ensure that there is only one Fastag for each vehicle and it is registered in the name of the owner of the Fastag.
This initiative will have many benefits, including:
- Improvement in toll collection: The use of a single Fastag will reduce traffic congestion at toll plazas and make the toll collection process more efficient.
- Reduction in rigging: The use of a single Fastag will reduce misuse and rigging of Fastag.
- Improve security: The use of a single Fastag will help protect the privacy of vehicle owners.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is encouraging all Fastag users to complete their KYC process. As per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), completing the KYC process is mandatory for all Fastag users.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has recently received several complaints that multiple Fastags have been issued to the same vehicle and their KYC has not been done. Apart from this, many times Fastag is deliberately not installed properly on the windscreen of vehicles. These problems cause unnecessary delays at toll plazas.
To overcome these problems, NHAI has started the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative. Under this initiative, there will be only one Fastag for each vehicle and it will be registered in the name of the owner of the Fastag. This initiative will come into effect on January 31, 2024.
NHAI believes that the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative will reduce traffic congestion at toll plazas and make the toll collection process more efficient. Moreover, this initiative will reduce the misuse and rigging of Fastag.
Fastag has revolutionized electronic toll collection. With a penetration rate of 98% and 8 crore users, Fastag has become a very fast system. This system will be further improved with the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative.
You can use these methods to get KYC of Fastag:
- Online: You can do your KYC online by visiting the website of your Fastag issuing bank or payment gateway like PhonePe or Paytm.
- Mobile App: You can also do your KYC using the mobile app of your Fastag issuing bank or payment gateway.
- Toll Plaza: You can also get your KYC done at the toll plaza. For this, you will have to go to the KYC counter available at the toll plaza.
For KYC of Fastag, these documents have to be submitted:
- PAN card

- Vehicle registration certificate
The last date for getting KYC done for Fastag is January 31, 2024. If you have not got your KYC done by January 31, you may have to pay toll tax along with a fine at the toll plaza. Therefore, get your Fastag KYC done as soon as possible and avoid problems at the toll.
