This amount is sent directly to the bank account by the government. The purpose of this scheme is that poor parents do not have to face financial problems for the marriage of their daughters. Some wedding items are also given by the government under this scheme.

Who can apply for the scheme?

To apply in this scheme, the age of the girl must be 18 years or above at the time of marriage. At the same time, the age of the boy needs to be 21 years or more. Only daughters of BPL ration card-holder families can apply for this scheme.

At the same time, women are also given benefits in this scheme for remarriage. Women whose marriage has broken or divorced due to some reason can also apply for marriage under this scheme.

Why is there a controversy?

While the UP government has brought this scheme for the poor and needy, many people are also fraudulently taking benefits of this scheme. Some time ago, an already married couple in Ballia took benefit of this scheme by marrying again. Recently, a similar case has come to light from Mainpuri. After this, the government suspended many employees from their jobs.
