Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has announced several schemes to promote the overall development of the state. Special attention has also been given to the health sector in the budget. In this, it has been announced to provide Rs 125 crore for setting up new medical colleges and treatment of incurable diseases.

Presenting the account of the work of the state government, the Finance Minister said, encephalitis (encephalitis) had been a big problem in the state for a long time, and there has been significant improvement in it in the last few years. Acute encephalitis syndrome (AIS) patients have seen a 76 percent reduction in mortality, with a 98 percent reduction in mortality, while Japanese encephalitis patients have seen an 85 percent, 96 percent reduction in mortality.

Encephalitis has been the leading cause of death in children. Let us know about these diseases and the problems caused by them.

First, know about Japanese Encephalitis
Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne viral infection. It is the leading cause of viral encephalitis in Asia. There can be a danger of it spreading to humans through the bites of mosquitoes infected with the virus. This virus can also infect horses and pigs. Children are at higher risk of developing Japanese encephalitis.

A person suffering from mild Japanese encephalitis may only have a fever and headache, but if it is not identified or treated in time, the risk of the disease becoming severe and fatal can be high.

Its symptoms can be serious
Health experts say, that in the initial condition of Japanese encephalitis, there may be problems like headache, high fever, tremors, nausea-vomiting, stiffness in the neck, or paralysis. However, as the disease progresses, there may be a risk of complications like severe unconsciousness, uncontrolled tremors in children, and swelling in the testicles.

Japanese encephalitis can also seriously affect the brain. In some patients, it may increase the risk of deafness, emotional disorders, and paralysis on one side of the body.

What is Acute Encephalitis Syndrome?
Acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) primarily affects children and young adults, causing a large number of deaths each year. Due to AES, the patient may suffer from high fever along with various neurological problems such as mental confusion or coma. In addition to viral encephalitis, severe forms of leptospirosis and toxoplasmosis can cause AES.

How to prevent encephalitis?
Doctors say that anyone can be at risk of encephalitis, especially people whose immunity is very weak, the problem of the infection taking a serious form and increasing the risks has been seen more. The best way to prevent viral encephalitis is to avoid exposure to the virus.

Along with protection from mosquito bites, it is considered important to take care of hand hygiene, not sharing utensils and clothes, and getting children vaccinated. The risk of encephalitis and other mosquito-borne diseases can be prevented by taking measures to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
