Explain that till November 30, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued more than 135 crore Aadhaar numbers. Last month, UIDAI said that it is starting to allow users to update their card details issued 10 years ago.

In a statement, the Ministry of Electronics and IT said it is in the interest of residents to keep their Aadhaar updated with current proof of identity and proof of address.

How to update Aadhaar?

Here we are going to tell you how you can update the address in your Aadhaar. Suppose you have changed house, then you can update the address in your Aadhaar card online.

  • First of all, go to uidai.gov.in.
  • Now under the 'My Aadhaar' tab, select 'Update Demographics Data and Check status'.
  • Here you will be redirected to another website
  • After this, you have to click on 'Login'.
  • Now enter your Aadhaar number, and captcha code and click on Send OTP.
  • A Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Once logged in, select 'Update Aadhaar Online'.
  • Read the instructions shown and click on 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar'.
  • Then select the data field you want to update. Explain that you will have to upload proof of the new address to be updated on the Aadhaar card. Click on 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar'.
  • Submit the request if the details are correct.
  • You will be redirected to the payment portal and have to pay Rs 50 to update the address.
