This haveli is a major tourist and historical place of Rajasthan. It is said that it took about 30 years to prepare the design of the mansion alone, so let's know about this mansion closely.

History of Patwon Ki Haveli

This historical haveli present in Jaisalmer is one of the oldest structures. Let us tell you that Patwonki Haveli is a group of five Havelis which were built by a wealthy merchant 'Patwa'. It is said that the merchant had five sons and each haveli was built for those five sons. It is said that it took thirty years to prepare the design of this haveli and about thirty years to build, that is, it took more than 60 years to build these five Havelis.

  • Consisting of five Havelis, Patwonki Haveli is the most amazing and largest haveli of its kind in the city of Jaisalmer.
  • The first haveli, known as Kothari kiPatwa Haveli, is the most prominent of the five Havelis. The first haveli was built by Guman Chand Patwa, a renowned jewelery merchant.
  • According to the local people, Patwa earned a lot of money by smuggling opium along with gold and silver, after which this mansion was built with the same money.
  • The arches and entrances inside these Havelis have been made in a very special way. Each haveli has a different style of mirror work and paintings.
  • It is said that there was a separate haveli for the five brothers of the Patavs and their families and each of the Havelis had one of the best facilities.
  • There is a museum inside the haveli, in which artifacts, paintings and crafts are preserved.

The architecture of this haveli is amazing. The most important thing is that the mirror work has been done on its wall. There are exquisite paintings and exquisite carvings on the walls. Different paintings are present on the pillars present in more than 60 balconies. Almost every door of this haveli is filled with intricate designs, which is nothing but a marvel of architecture. There are intricate carvings and paintings on the jharokhas, arches, balconies, and the entrance too.

Time to visit Patwon Ki Haveli

You can visit Patwonki Haveli anytime between 9 am to 6 pm. The entry fee to Patwon Ki Haveli is around Rs 20 per person and if you want to take a camera, it is charged separately. The months from October to March are considered to be the best time to visit Jaisalmer and its tourist places. In the hotel around this haveli, you can enjoy traditional food like Dal BatiChurma, Murg-e-Sabj, Masala Raita, etc.
