The Corona epidemic caused such devastation all over the world, due to which the tourist industry suffered a big blow. Due to the fear of Covid, the governments of many countries imposed various restrictions on their citizens. Due to these restrictions, people stopped travelling. However, now slowly things are back on track. The tourist industry has also started getting a boost. Union Culture and Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy told that about 69 lakh foreign tourists visited India last year i.e. in 2022. This figure shows a 4-fold increase in the number of tourists after 2 years of the Covid epidemic.
Reddy said that plans are also being made to run the 'National Tourism Mission' to digitize the tourist sector. He said that the whole world faced very difficult times during the Corona epidemic. Especially the tourist sector was badly affected. However, after two years of decline in economic growth, about 69 lakh tourists came to India from abroad. This figure for tourists coming from foreign countries indicates a 4-fold increase.
The tourist sector got a boost
According to the PTI report, Reddy said that the increased number of foreign tourists coming to India shows that we are moving in the right direction in the tourist sector. G Kishan Reddy was addressing the meeting of the Tourism Working Group. It is being organized under the G-20 presidency of India in the Tent City located in the Rann of Kutch (in Gujarat). This is the second G-20 program in the state after the 'Business 20 Inception' program in Gandhinagar last month.
New tourism policy 2023 drafted
Reddy said that there are 40 UNESCO heritage sites in the country and we celebrate more than 1000 festivals every year. Reddy told that the Government of India has prepared a draft of a new tourism policy for 2023. This draft is giving a new look to the tourist sector in India. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has informed that the state government is taking several important steps to boost the tourism sector.
