How to use the where is My Train app

Where My Train app is is a handy app that gives you live train location, next station information and estimated arrival time. This app works both online and offline. It has three modes of location detection – Internet, Cell Tower, and GPS. You can find out the live location of the train using the internet or cell tower, but for this, you should travel in the train whose location you want to know.

The app has three location modes

  • Internet: This mode provides the most accurate location, but requires an Internet connection.
  • Cell Tower: This mode tells you the approximate location of the train, even if you do not have an internet connection.
  • GPS: This mode tells you the exact location of the train, but it requires GPS to be on your device.

When using the internet mode of the Where is My Train app, the app connects to the NTES (National Train Inquiry System) servers and provides live location. This system tracks the location of trains on behalf of Indian Railways. It uses instantly updated data, so you can get accurate and new locations in this mode.

Whereas when using GPS (Global Positioning System) mode, the app detects your local location via satellite via wire. It also provides you with accurate location, but for this, it is necessary to have a GPS signal in your phone.
