If you are asked which international tourist destinations are good for Indians, then probably the name Thailand will come first. A cheap, beautiful and sustainable destination where there is no need to empty the bank account to go. Recently I have come on a Thailand trip and I can say from my experience that this country is much cheaper than what is usually spent on this trip. All you need to know are some hacks to save money.
Not only can travel expenses be saved on a Thailand trip but many scams can also be avoided. Let us tell you some things related to the Thailand trip today.
How to save on travel expenses?
How much can be saved - 5 to 15 thousand
Once the flights and hotels etc. are booked, travel expenses account for most of the expenditure. In such a situation, if you want to save money, then these tips can prove to be very useful.
Intercity travel
Book bus tickets for intercity travel. If you want to go somewhere between Pattaya and Phuket, travel agencies will usually send you by road from Pattaya to Bangkok and then take a flight to Phuket. Instead, you can take bus routes to many cities near Phuket. After this, you can take the sea route to Phuket from there. This will save you a lot of money. Several types of night buses run from Pattaya or Bangkok. You won't even have to pay for one night's hotel room and you'll save a lot of money on flight tickets.
If there is a large group, then you can also do personal travellers which can be booked online.
Online Rides Instead of Tuktuk
Thailand's tuk-tuks are very famous and you will find them in any place. The problem is that tuk-tuks charge a lot of money from tourists. They can ask for up to 200-500 baht (Thai currency, 1 baht = 2.42 Indian rupees) to go to nearby places, which will be up to 1000 rupees in Indian currency. In this case, choose a bike service like Grab, or Ola which will take you to the same place in less than 50 Baht. You can also hire your bike. The way in Goa you can roam around with a bike or scooter, the same facility is also available in Thailand. You will not even know how much money you have saved.
Food savings
Thailand has a lot of cute and Instagram-worthy cafes and is a must-visit sometimes. But it is not always right to eat in cafes. For this, you can try the street food of Thailand. This cost a lot of money in the first two days of my trip. You can visit the cafe and order just one dish and fill your stomach with the street food available outside. The pad Thai eaten at the cafe cost 500 baht and the pad Thai eaten at the street market outside cost 50 baht.
Tips to Avoid Scams
How much money can be saved – 5 to 10 thousand
There are many types of scams in Thailand. I have felt this personally. You can lose a lot of money because of these scams.
Hotel scam
Many hotels in Thailand ask for security beforehand. After this, you go to the room and enjoy the trip, but at the time of checkout, you come to know that something in the hotel room is broken and you are being charged for it. A while back the electric kettle scam went viral where hotels used to charge you for a broken electric kettle. To avoid this, whenever you go there, take a video of everything. It may come in handy in the future.
Jet ski scam
Many travel influencers will also give you information about this scam. You go for water sports, come back on a jet ski and a defect is found in the jet ski. You are held responsible for that and thousands of rupees are taken from you. To avoid this, the video trick will also work.
Savings when booking
How much can be saved – 5 to 10 thousand
When booking, try to get a hotel room 15-20 minutes away from Walking Street so that you can walk. In such a situation, you will not only get an average hotel at a lower price but also save money for intercity travel. Almost every city in Thailand has a walking street. At least it is in tourist destinations like Pattaya, Bangkok, Phuket, and Karabi.
All these tips are based on my personal travel experience.
