Women have to face many problems related to periods. One of these problems is irregular periods. Usually, the period is of 28 days. It may be ahead or behind for a few days. But, when periods do not occur for several months, then it is called irregular periods.
Periods can become irregular due to thyroid, sudden increase or decrease in weight, stress, lack of nutrition in the diet, excessive exercise, birth control pills etc. You can try some home remedies for this problem. Dietician Sheenam K Malhotra tells us about these remedies.
Ginger tea
You can take ginger tea to regularize periods. It produces heat in the body, due to which periods come on time. In addition, it helps in relieving period cramps and pain.
Drinking ginger tea can provide relief from period symptoms like cramps and nausea. This is because ginger and especially the gingerol found in it are rich in anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Apart from this, pain in periods can also be relieved with gingerol.
To make tea, grate ginger and add it to the pan. Then, put some water in it and keep it on the gas. Turn off the gas when it starts boiling. Drink it hot.
Raw papaya
Raw papaya helps in regularizing periods. This is due to the papain present in it. The carotene present in it contains anti-oxidants, which control the level of estrogen hormone in the body of women.
In addition, raw papaya contains fibre, phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals, carbs, and protein. It also contains flavonoids, which are potent antioxidants, and monounsaturated fatty acids. These are helpful in problems related to periods.
Eat raw papaya a few days before periods. Cut the papaya into small pieces in a bowl. Eat it as a snack.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is not only necessary for bones but for overall health. Also, it can regularize your periods as well. It improves insulin sensitivity and reduces inflammation, which helps women regulate their periods.
For vitamin D, sit in the morning sun for a while or include mushrooms, fish, kale, egg yolk, cow's milk, cereals etc. in the diet.
But, if this problem bothers you again and again, then do not ignore it, contact the doctor immediately.
