Rajasthan government launched free seed minikit distribution scheme to increase women's participation in agriculture sector. Seeds of moong, moth, jowar, maize and millet have been provided to 24.58 lakh women farmers.
Jaipur. The Rajasthan government has taken an important step with the aim of promoting women's participation in the agricultural sector and empowering them economically. Under this initiative, free seed minikits are being distributed to women farmers by the Agriculture Department. This scheme is benefiting 24 lakh 58 thousand women farmers of the state, which will enable them to successfully expand their agricultural activities.
When was the scheme announced?
Agriculture Commissioner Chinmayi Gopal said that this scheme was announced in the budget for the year 2024-25 and its implementation has now started. Under the scheme, minikits of seeds of important crops like moong, moth, jowar, maize and millet are being distributed.
What will women get under the scheme?
4 lakh minikits of 4 kg of moong, 1 lakh minikits of 4 kg of moth, 89 thousand minikits of 4 kg of sorghum, 10 lakh 79 thousand minikits of 5 kg of maize and 7 lakh 90 thousand minikits of 1.5 kg of millet have been provided to women farmers.
Which women are being given priority in this scheme?
In this scheme, priority has been given to those women farmers who are from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, small and marginal farmers, self-help groups, disabled people and living below the poverty line. Every woman farmer is being provided a minikit packet, which will enable them to increase their agricultural production capacity. This step is important towards making women farmers self-reliant and increasing their contribution to the agricultural economy of the state.
