Srinagar Tulip Garden: Asia's largest Tulip Garden has been opened for tourists from today, March 19, 2023. Tourists will be able to see 1.5 million tulips this year. Spread over 52 hectares of picturesque land at the foothills of the Jabarwan Mountains and situated on the banks of Dal Lake, Srinagar's Tulip Garden is the largest tulip garden in Asia. Along with tulips, you will also find other beautiful spring flowers like hyacinths, pink tursava, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamen in this garden. Tulip Garden was earlier known as Siraj Bagh. In 2008, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the then chief minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, named it the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden.
Situated at the foothills of Jabarwan mountain, this amazing Tulip Garden has 64 species of 1.5 million tulip flowers. Spread over an area of about 30 hectares, this Tulip Garden was opened in the year 2007 to promote floriculture and tourism in the Kashmir Valley.
According to a tourism department official, 'This year more than 1.5 million tulip bulbs of 68 varieties have been planted. It is expected that this garden will be an attraction for tourists from different parts of the country and the world and lakhs of tourists will reach Kashmir. This time, to make this garden more attractive and comfortable, an open-air cafeteria has been established here in the garden, it will be the main attraction for the visiting tourists.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the perfect place to visit with family, friends, or even alone. The months from March to April are the best to visit here. Apart from roaming around in Tulip Garden, you can also do photography.
