How to make Kara Chutney
To make Kara Chutney, first, take a nonstick pan and heat it by adding 2 spoons of oil. After the oil is hot, add urad dal, chana dal, and dry red chilies and fry them. When the color of the dal turns golden brown, add finely chopped onion and chopped garlic cloves to it, mix well, and cook until the color of the onion turns light brown.
After this, add finely chopped tomatoes to the mixture and cook them until the tomatoes become soft. After this, turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down. When the mixture becomes slightly warm, shift it into a mixer jar and add a piece of tamarind and salt as per taste. Add 3-4 tablespoons of water to the jar and blend all the ingredients well to make a smooth paste. Take out the prepared paste in a big bowl.
Now put 2 tsp oil in a small pan and heat it. After the oil is hot, put mustard seeds and urad dal in it. After a few seconds add curry leaves and let them crackle. After the tempering is ready, spread it all over the chutney kept in the bowl and then mix it well with the help of a spoon. Tasty Kara Chutney is ready. Serve it with idli-dosa or other South Indian dishes.
