Snoring is a habit that directly causes problems for you or the people around you, although often people ignore the fact that this habit can also make them sick internally. Many surprising things have come to the fore in the research done on this.

Experts of AIIMS Bhopal conducted research on 1,015 patients aged 18 to 80 years from 2019 to 2023. They found that the habit of snoring can increase the problems of diabetes and high blood pressure because, in this study, evidence has been found that obstructive sleep apnea is directly related to high sugar, high BP, and metabolic syndrome.

If the study is to be believed, snoring can cause many other problems including obesity, heart disease, and brain stroke. For this, the hospital is preparing treatment tools in collaboration with IIT Delhi. In the future, treatment will be possible with country-made machines.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a common disease in which there is a blockage in the respiratory tract during sleep and the oxygen level in the body decreases. That is, your sleep is disturbed.

Dr. Prof. Anant Mohan, HOD of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, said that lifestyle changes, surgical options, and CPAP are important for the prevention of the disease. When someone has this problem, he shows symptoms of excessive sleepiness during the day, disturbance in sleep pattern, and loud snoring.

AIIMS Bhopal sleep expert Dr. Abhishek Goyal said that the problem has appeared serious in this research. Work is being done on the treatment based on the study. If awareness about this disease spreads among the people, then if treatment is done on time, then the problem can be overcome.

Dr. Saurabh Mittal said that a sleep apnea test is done in AIIMS to detect obstructive sleep apnea. Approximately 600 people have been tested in a year. In this test, the problem was found to be serious in approximately 90% of the patients.
