The country may see its first Vande Bharat sleeper train as early as March next year, which the Integral Coach Factory aims to launch by 2024. Railway officials said that after the introduction of the sleeper train, the sleeper coach train will be able to travel long distances overnight. At present, only sitting seats are given on the Vande Bharat train. Therefore long-distance travel is not possible by this train.

When will the train start?

The construction of the first train is underway and will be launched in March 2024. Vande Bharat sleeper train will have 16 coaches. Its maximum speed will be 220 km per hour, but it will run at a speed of 160 to 200 km per hour only on the track. The train will have eleven AC 3 coaches, four AC 2 coaches and one AC 1 coach.

Vande Metro will also start

Giving this information, the General Manager of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) located in Chennai, BG Mallya has said that apart from the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, Vande Metro will also be started. Vande Metro is a 12-coach train, which will be used for short-distance travel. Vande Metro is expected to start by January 2024.

The train is being manufactured by a consortium of India's Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Russia's TMH Group.

When was Vande Bharat started for the first time?

Vande Bharat Express trains are part of the Government of India's efforts to indigenously develop India, with its first train being rolled out on February 15, 2019, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This train runs between New Delhi and Varanasi, the Prime Minister's home constituency.
