Good sleep is considered the basis of health. Researchers said that people who get a good night's sleep also have less risk of physical and mental health problems than those who get less sleep. Even one night of sleep problems can make you feel tired, weak, and irritable the next day. At the same time, if you have this problem often, i.e. you have insomnia or sleep disorder, then it can be the cause of serious diseases.

In a recent study, researchers said that if measures are taken to maintain proper sleep from an early age, it can protect you from the problem of memory loss in old age - dementia. The risk of these disorders has been seen to be higher in people who do not get enough sleep.

Not only this, due to sleep disorders you may face many other types of health problems about which everyone needs to be alert.

There may be a risk of dementia
In a study conducted to find out about the health problems caused by sleep disorders, researchers found that if there is a decrease of even one percent in deep sleep every year in people above 60 years of age, then there is a possibility of dementia due to it. It may increase up to 27 percent. The study says that if efforts are made to get deep sleep from an early age, then the risk of memory loss in old age can be reduced manifold. That means sleep is very important to keep your brain healthy.

This helps in controlling weight
Studies have defined sleep problems as sleeping less than 7 hours per night. These conditions may increase the risk of weight gain and high body mass index (BMI). A 2020 analysis found that adults who slept less than 7 hours per night had a 41% increased risk of developing obesity. That means, if you want to control your weight, it is very important to improve sleep.

Heart remains healthy
Poor sleep quality and duration have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. An analysis of studies found that sleeping less than 7 hours a day increased the risk of death from heart disease by 13%. If you improve your sleep and get 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night, it helps in controlling blood pressure and can reduce the risk of developing serious heart diseases.

You can stay safe from depression
Poor sleep quality and sleep disorders have also been linked to mental health problems such as depression and stress. A study of 2,672 participants found that people who lack sleep every night may have a higher risk of developing depression over time. People suffering from sleep disorders such as insomnia or obstructive sleep apnea also have higher rates of depression.
