Sharad Purnima 2023: Purnima has special significance in the Hindu religion. There are 12 full moons in a year. The full moon of Ashwin month is considered to be the most special among all the full moons. This full moon is called Kojagari Purnima, Raas Purnima, and Sharad Purnima.

Why is Sharad Purnima special?
The wonderful and divine Raslilas of Lord Shri Krishna and Radha also started on the day of Sharad Purnima. In the white and bright moonlight of the full moon, Lord Shri Krishna along with his nine lakh gopikas created Maharaas in Braj by coming in the form of nine lakh different gopas. On the night of Sharad Purnima, the Moon is closest to the Earth and is full of its sixteen phases. On this night, the power of the moon is most bright and energetic. The whole sky appears washed in the bright moonlight, everywhere nature is bathed in the milky light of the moon.

According to the scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi was born on the day of Sharad Purnima, that is why Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped on Sharad Purnima in many parts of the country. According to Narad Purana, in the pale moonlight of Sharad Purnima, Mother Lakshmi travels on the earth riding on her vehicle owl carrying the groom and Abhay in her lotus flowers and the mother also sees who is awake. That means, who is aware of his duties? Those who stay awake on this night and worship Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Lakshmi has immense blessings on them, this fast observed every year is going to satisfy Goddess Lakshmi.

Importance of puja
On this day, along with Goddess Lakshmi, the Moon should also be worshipped. If unmarried girls worship the Sun and Moon God in the morning on this day, they get their desired groom. It is believed that those who worship Goddess Lakshmi with Shodashopachar method on this night and recite Shri Sukta, Kanakdhara Stotra, Vishnusahastranaam, even if there is no Dhanayoga in their horoscope, Mother Goddess blesses them with wealth.

Keep Kheer like this in Sharad Purnima
This time, after many years, a lunar eclipse is going to occur on the day of Sharad Purnima, and on this day, Kheer is also kept in the open sky at night, so that nectar can rain on it from the moon, but this year do not keep the Kheer outside the whole night, because of this it will spoil. Will get contaminated. The eclipse is going to begin at 01:05 am on the night of 28th October and will end at 02:23 am. Therefore, only after the eclipse ends i.e. after 2:23 pm, take a bath and make kheer and then keep it under the open sky and offer it to God in the morning and take the kheer as prasad.

Time of worship
On the day of Sharad Purnima, Sutak Kaal is going to start at 3:00 pm and after Sutak Kaal starts, puja is not performed. On the day of Sharad Purnima, Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi are worshiped and Chandra Ardhya is also offered on this day. In such a situation, do the puja before the start of Sutak and chant the mantras after the eclipse ends. Offer water to the moon and do charity, this will end all troubles.
