Talking about periods is also a taboo subject in India. That's why women still shy away from talking about it. Women face many problems in their bodies during periods. Many times we do not understand what kind of problem is occurring in which part of the body. In such a situation, if we talk about the problem of stomach upset during periods, this also happens to many women. During periods, not only do you have to go to the bathroom more often, but there is also more pain during movements.

Sometimes the problem of gastritis also starts feeling. But why does this happen? Even though your eating habits do not change during this period, why do you face a lot of problems during your periods? Today we will talk about this only.

Obstetrician and gynaecologistDrTirtha Shetty has shared things related to this on Instagram. He has given the reason why women have to face stomach upset during periods.

After all, why do we have to go to the toilet more during periods?

According to Dr. Tirtha, this happens because of two P's. Progesterone and prostaglandins. Prostaglandin is the chemical that causes period blood to fall from the uterus. If this chemical is less or not present in the body, there may be problems in periods.

Just as it affects the uterus, it also has a slight effect on our intestines due to which we have to make extra toilet trips during periods.

Now the second P i.e. progesterone also affects it. This hormone promotes constipation in the body. That means, as long as this hormone is abundant in your body, you will not have loose motions, but it falls during periods. In such a situation, the intestines of the body get relaxed and this is the reason why motion increases during this period.

Do all women have this problem during periods?

Research published in the National Library of Medicine believes that 73% of women experience some kind of gastrointestinal problem during periods. That means problems like constipation or diarrhoea continue to be felt.

Due to this reason also women get upset stomachs during periods.

Now let us talk about those two reasons why stomach problems keep occurring. The rise and fall of progesterone also increases our appetite. Due to this, different types of cravings start occurring in the body. On the one hand, we feel like eating high-fat foods like sugar, ice cream and chocolate, while on the other hand, we also eat more fried and spicy foods.

Whenever such foods enter the body, it takes a lot of time to digest them. Due to these foods, the bowel movement of the body becomes very bad.

Another important reason why problems increase during periods is stress and anxiety. Due to stress and anxiety, the bowel movements of the body get affected. This is the reason why we feel pain at various places in our body, gas increases and conditions like constipation or diarrhoea arise.

At such a time, it would be better for you to do some exercise, relax a bit and control your eating and drinking habits. You can keep healthy snacks with you so that your hunger can be controlled as much as possible.
