Masala porridge is a delicious Indian dish made with vegetables and spices. It is a wholesome meal that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The recipe for making Masala Porridge is as follows:

Ingredients:

1 cup oatmeal

2 tbsp oil or ghee

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 green chili, finely chopped

1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans, etc.), finely chopped

1 tomato, finely chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder

salt to taste

2 cups water

fresh coriander leaves for garnish

pieces of lemon

Instructions :

Wash the oatmeal in running water and drain it well.

Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker or a deep pan on medium heat.

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add finely chopped onions and fry till golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies. Fry for a minute till the raw smell disappears.

Add the mixed vegetables and cook for a few minutes till they turn slightly soft.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Pour the washed oatmeal into the pan and mix it with the spices and vegetables.

Add water and run it.

If using a pressure cooker, cover it with a lid and cook for 3-4 whistles. If using a pan, cover it with a lid and cook on a slow flame till the porridge is soft, while stirring occasionally. Add more water if needed.

After cooking, take it off the flame and leave it for a few minutes.

Whisk the porridge with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander.

Serve Masala Daliya hot as a main course dish. Squeeze a little lemon juice over it, if needed, for an extra tangy taste.
