Why does the sleeping pattern get worse before periods?
Often women suffer from insomnia before menstruation, which is quite frustrating. According to experts, this is a very common symptom. Progesterone and estrogen hormones are responsible for this. Before menstruation, the level of progesterone increases, while during menstruation, the level of progesterone falls, due to which the sleeping pattern is disturbed. There is a change in body temperature during periods. After ovulation, it becomes higher by about 0.3 °C to 0.7 °C and remains high until the period starts. Because of this, sleep is also affected.
Women suffer a lot of cramps during their periods. There is also a concern about pad leaks. The mood remains bad due to changes in hormones. The levels of serotonin and melatonin, the hormones responsible for sleep, also fall. Due to this also problem of insomnia occurs.
What to do to get good sleep during periods
- Keep the room temperature correct so that you can sleep well.
- Do not consume tea or coffee before sleeping.
- You can also do some exercise before sleeping.
- Eat a balanced diet and also drink an adequate amount of water.
