Giving information in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra said that the government is aware of cyber security threats and several steps are being taken to counter such threats. Mishra said the ransomware ecosystem is growing with the help of a variety of attack campaigns. The Union Minister has given this information to the House in a written reply to a member. Let us tell you that there are frequent cases of ransomware attacks in the country.

Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra when asked whether the government is aware of the threats posed by cyber criminals using the dark net, metaverse, deep fakes, ransomware, and toolkit-based disinformation for campaigns. In response, Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra said that the government is aware of cyber security threats and several steps are being taken to counter them. Giving information, the Union Minister said that cyber hackers are taking the help of known vulnerabilities, remote access services and phishing to gain access to the infrastructure.


He said that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) publishes statistical data on crimes in Crime in India but NCRB does not have specific data in this regard. According to the Minister of State, more than 39,200 police officers from states and union territories are registered and more than 19,550 certificates have been issued through the portal.

The Minister of State for Home also said that the government has appointed CERT-in as the national agency to respond to cyber security incidents. CERT-in is working with organizations from various sectors to proactively mitigate the threat. Along with analyzing the threat, the agency also issues necessary alerts.
