Where was this lake created?
There are popular stories about the big lake located on Mount Abu in Rajasthan that was created by the gods. It is a freshwater lake, which falls in the famous hill station Mount Abu located in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan. People come to this lake to watch the sunset, because a clear view of the sun is visible from this place.
Also, seeing the clouds in the sky at the time of sunset, it feel as if you are in heaven. This lake has been built in the middle of the Aravalli Mountains all around. You can also go boating here.
Why this lake was named Nakki?
It is said that this lake was created by the gods by digging it with their nails, hence it is named Nakki Lake. Earlier this lake was KaNakh Ki Lake, but with the change of time, its name changed to Nakki. Apart from this, another story is told regarding this.
The people living here also believe that the local king wanted to get his daughter married, for which he had set a condition. The king had said that whoever built this lake in one night, would marry his daughter. This lake is spread over two and a half kilometers.
Specialty of the lake
You will get a chance to do many things simultaneously on this lake. You can go boating here, there is a garden near the lake, where you can sit and watch the sunset. Also, there is a market near the lake, where goods made in Rajasthan and Gujarat are available in abundance.
How to reach?
You can reach Mount Abu by train, road and air. For this, first of all, you have to take a train and flight to Udaipur. The distance between Udaipur and Mount Abu is 185 kilometers. You can also rent a scooter from Udaipur to Mount Abu.
You will get this for just Rs 400 to 500. Besides, bus and taxi facilities are also available here. If you are coming by train, the nearest station is Abu Road. It is located about 22 kilometers away from Mount Abu.
