Millions of people travel by train every day, so keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, Indian Railways takes many important steps every day. Therefore, the Railways has made many rules for the convenience of passengers traveling in trains. Keeping these rules in mind, morning tea-breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided to the passengers in trains. If you also often travel by train, then it is very important to know about these rules.

Actually, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) provides food to the passengers during the journey in Indian Railways. During ticket booking, the passenger can book veg-nonveg food on the site of irctc.co.in. IRCTC CPRO Anil Gupta said in a conversation with Amar Ujala, it is very important for the passengers to keep in mind the rules of the railways while booking food during the train journey. Because the railways have fixed rules and timings for providing morning tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

According to Gupta, the timings for tea from breakfast to dinner have been fixed in premium trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto. Passengers travelling in these trains are provided morning tea from 6 am to 8 am. Whereas breakfast is provided from 8 am to 9.30 am. Lunch is provided to passengers between 1 pm to 3 pm. Evening tea is provided from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Dinner is provided from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. However, select trains are exceptions to this rule. Food is provided till 9.30 pm so that no outsider enters the coach after 10 pm. This affects the security circle of passengers.

If food is not booked then this is also an option
If a passenger has not booked food while booking the train ticket, then he does not need to worry. He can book his food even during the journey in the train. The passenger can book his lunch and dinner with the help of railway's ecatering.irctc.co.in site or on IRCTC's WhatsApp number. But even in this, food will not be provided to the passenger after 10 pm.

In this too, to book food, the passenger will first have to go to the ecatering.irctc.co.in site. The passenger will have to fill his name and PNR number here. In the drop menu, he will have to tell his station in the list of railway stations. After this, the menu and the price of the food will appear. From here the passenger will be able to book his food. After the payment, the passenger's order will be confirmed. Which will be provided to the passenger during the journey.

At the same time, if the passenger does not want to eat the food of the train's pantry car, then he can also order tasty and hygienic food at his seat by going to the IRCTC website. Because Swiggy, Zomato and some other food delivery companies are working with IRCTC to deliver food online to the passengers. If the passengers order food from unauthorized websites or other apps, then the railways have no responsibility for its quality, correct quantity and delivery. Apart from this, passengers can also take food from authorized vendors present at the stations.

Passengers also have to keep these things in mind

To book food, there should be a confirmed train ticket.

Enter the correct PNR number while booking.

While booking, you can choose either payment or cash on delivery option.

IRCTC provides food facility to passengers only from 6 am to 10 pm.

If you do not get full food or food even after ordering, then you can get a full refund.

If the passenger is not satisfied with the quality or quantity of food, then the passenger can register a complaint by calling the toll free number 139 of Indian Railways.

You can also order food through phone
If passengers are not techno friendly or for some reason cannot order food online while travelling, then they can order food by calling 1323 (as per the prescribed terms and conditions). Through this, passengers will also be able to cancel their order. But this work should be done before two hours of the proposed delivery. At the same time, it will take three to four days for the refund to come.
