While presenting the interim budget for the year 2024, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made many important announcements related to solar rooftop power. A few days later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme on February 13, 2024. Under the scheme, solar rooftops will be installed in 1 crore houses. These houses with solar rooftops will get 300-300 units of free electricity. Under the scheme, if you install solar panels up to 2kw in the house, then you will get a subsidy of up to 60 percent. On the other hand, if you install solar panels up to 3kw, then you will get a subsidy of up to 40 percent. In this episode, today we are going to tell you about the process, with the help which you can apply this scheme.

To apply to the scheme, first of all, you have to visit the official website of the scheme https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in/. After this, you have to select the registration option. After doing this, you have to select your state and electricity distribution company and fill in the electricity consumer number.

In the next step, you have to fill in your mobile number and email ID. After applying for a rooftop solar panel, you have to get the plant installed by any registered seller in Discom.

After the installation is complete, you have to apply for a net meter by submitting the details of the plant. After the meter and Discom are installed, the commissioning certificate will be issued from the portal.

After getting this, you have to submit the bank account details and a canceled cheque through the portal. After doing this, you will get a subsidy within 30 days.
