The lentils made in this are Panchmel Dal which can be eaten with roti or rice. Necessary ingredients
- 1/4 cup moong dal
- 1/4 cup masoor dal
- 1/4 cup chana dal
- 2 finely chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp red chilli
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- as needed juice of 1 lemon
- 3 chopped green chillies
- 3 cups garlic
- pinch of turmeric
Water as needed
Salt as needed
Method Of Making:
Take all the lentils in a bowl and wash them thoroughly. Wash all the pulses thoroughly with water two to three times and clean them. Now take the mixture of all the pulses in a pressure cooker and pour enough water on top. When the water comes to a boil, add salt and turmeric to it, cover the cooker and let this mixture cook till 3 to 4 whistles come.
Now put ghee in a separate pan and heat it well. When the ghee is well heated, add asafoetida, cumin, garlic, and onion, and cook it well for 2 to 3 minutes. Cook it well until the colour of the onion turns golden, now put tomatoes on top of it. Now add red chilli powder to this mixture and mix it well with the help of a spoon. After cooking for 1 to 2 minutes add dal and mix it.
After adding lentils, cook the whole mixture for at least 5 minutes, after that add lemon juice, garam masala and coriander leaves and cook for a few minutes and turn off the gas flame. Your panchmel delicious dal is ready. Serve it with rice or roti. If you want, you can put ghee on top of it while serving.
