Ovarian cancer is one of the fastest-growing lethal cancers in women globally. In the year 2020, there were a total of more than 2.07 lakh deaths due to this cancer. There is a risk of this cancer due to uncontrolled growth of cells in the ovaries. Health experts say, that in the early stages of ovarian cancer, its symptoms are usually not obvious, and by the time its symptoms start appearing, the disease has reached its serious stages. One of the main reasons for the increasing mortality rate due to this cancer is considered to be its not being detected on time.

Now scientists have achieved great success in this direction. Researchers have described in the study a special type of blood test through which this deadly cancer can be detected in its initial stages. Scientists say that with the help of this test, will help reduce the risks of deaths due to ovarian cancer globally.

Researchers claim that with the help of this test, deadly cancer can be detected with 91 percent accuracy.

The risk of ovarian cancer is increasing
In this study published in the journal Clinical Research Center, scientists said, that high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC), the most common type of ovarian cancer, can be easily detected in the early stages with the help of this blood test.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, HGSOC grows slowly at first and may take up to six and a half years to reach the ovaries. Once it reaches the ovaries, it spreads more rapidly. With the help of this test, cancer cells can be detected even before they reach the ovaries.

What did the study find?
To find out how effective this test can be, blood and cell samples of healthy people and those with HGSOC were taken and tested. It was found that with the help of blood tests, cancer can be detected in its initial stages. According to a news release issued by the University of Southern California, the test could become commercially available within the next two years.

What do researchers say?
Detecting cancer in its early stages can help save lives, says study author Bodor Salhia, an associate professor in the Department of Translational Genomics at the medical school. If we can accurately identify ovarian cancer in its early stages, treatment may be easier. With this, the chances of survival of the patients can also increase significantly.

We hope that this test can help in the early diagnosis of cancer and reduce the risk of approximately two lakh deaths occurring every year.

Also, pay attention to the symptoms of ovarian cancer
Health experts say, that as the cases of ovarian cancer are increasing globally, all women need to pay serious attention to its symptoms. Due to this cancer, you may have problems with flatulence, feeling full quickly while eating, weight loss without any apparent reason, pain and discomfort in the pelvic area along with fatigue, back pain and frequent need to urinate. Might be possible.

If this kind of problem persists for some time then it needs serious attention.
