If we talk about winter, it is common for flights to get delayed here. Dense fog is an important reason behind this. Almost every year, during the winter season, many flights get delayed or even canceled. Even at present, many flights are running late, while many have been canceled. Nearly 400 flights have been affected by fog.

Know the rules here:-
In these cases, breakfast has to be arranged-

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation i.e. DGCA, if a flight is of two and a half hours duration, but it is delayed by two hours.
If the duration of a flight is between two and a half to five hours and it is delayed by three hours
At the same time, if a flight is delayed by four hours or more, then breakfast should be provided to the passengers.

Should alert
According to the rules, if a flight is delayed by more than six hours, the DGCA airline has to inform the passengers traveling in the plane 24 hours before the departure time.
At the same time, in such a situation, if the passengers wish, they can ask for a seat on another flight or can take a full refund.

Accommodation also has to be arranged
According to DGCA rules, if a flight is delayed by more than six hours or by more than 24 hours and the take-off time of the flight is between 8 pm to 3 am, then in such a situation the airline has to provide free air travel to the passengers. Arrangements for accommodation also have to be made.

What to do if the flight is cancelled?
If you are scheduled to travel on a flight but it is canceled, the airline is required to inform its passengers at least two weeks in advance, but at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Then as a passenger, you can get a full refund from the airline or take a seat on another flight.

You may also get compensation
If an airline does not inform passengers at least 24 hours before the departure time that their flight has been canceled, then the airline has to give a full refund. Besides, compensation also has to be paid. This may vary according to different periods.

This is how the refund comes
If you book tickets through a travel agent, you have to contact them for a refund.
If cash payment is made, a refund will be given immediately
Payment made through credit/debit card will be refunded within seven days.
