When the vehicle becomes old, its maintenance costs more than before. Not only this, old vehicles spread more pollution than new vehicles. To avoid these problems, the government gets the vehicles scrapped. Different states of our country have different rules for scrapping. Diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years are not allowed to run on the roads in the Delhi NCR region.

However, these vehicles can be sold and re-registered in another state. But re-registration is usually expensive, so most people opt for scrapping the vehicles. These old vehicles can be scrapped through the authorized scrappers of the Transport Department. There are also many benefits of scrapping old vehicles, which you should also know about.

Benefits of scrapping
When you give your old vehicle to a seller for scrapping, you get some value for the vehicle in return.
When you scrap an old vehicle, you get a certificate. With the help of that certificate, there is no registration fee when buying a new vehicle.
Based on this certificate, state governments give concessions on road tax for new vehicles. This discount can be up to 25% for non-transport vehicles and up to 15% for transport vehicles.
On showing the certificate, you also get a discount of up to 10 percent on buying a new vehicle. This discount is given in addition to the scrap value received for the old vehicle.
