Mother loves the red color
On the occasion of Navratri, the clothes, flowers, fruits and make-up items offered to Navdurga are red in color. When the Kalash is installed, a coconut wrapped in red cloth is also placed on top of it. Raksha sutras are tied with a red Mauli only.
A trace of red color is also kept somewhere in the things dedicated to the Goddess so that the worship rituals receive the blessings of the fire element planets Sun and Mars. Surya is also called Rudra i.e. Agni. The form of Agni and Rudra is red only. Mars, which is as bright as the Sun, is also red in color. Therefore, mostly red things are offered to Maa Durga. The red color symbolizes power, brilliance, and good fortune.
