In such a situation, the color of the nails starts changing. In earlier times, most experts used to detect the disease by looking at the eyes, nails and tongue. The condition of liver, heart and lungs can be detected by looking at our nails. If the color of your nails is also changing, then you should be alert because it can also be due to some problem.
Yellow nail color
If the color of your nails has turned yellow then it can be a sign of increased cholesterol in the body. Apart from this, yellowing can also occur due to fungal infection, thyroid, cirrhosis. If your nails are thick with yellowing and grow very slowly then it could be due to a lung problem.
White nails
If the color of your nails is too white, then it can be a sign of anemia, heart failure, liver disease and malnutrition. On the other hand, the ridges lying on the nails indicate the deficiency of Vitamin-B, B-12, Zinc. If your nails are half white and half pink then it could be due to lack of blood in the body.
White spots on nails
The problem of soft white color in nails is seen in many people. Gradually these spots start increasing in size. If you also have this problem then it can be due to jaundice or liver related problem.
Blue nails
Sometimes there is blueness in the nails. This means that there is a lack of oxygen in the body. This indicates lung or heart disease. On the other hand, if the nails are dry and broken, then it shows the lack of nutrients in the body. It can also be due to thyroid.
Thickening of nails
If the thickness of the nail starts increasing abnormally or the layer of the nail becomes thick, then it can be a sign of many diseases. These can be symptoms of diabetes, lung infections and arthritis.

Darkening of nails
Black nails are considered a sign of skin cancer. Skin cancer can also start with mild pain along with darkening of the nails. Apart from this, nails can also turn black due to fungal infection. Many times due to injury, the blood vessels under the nail burst and blackness occurs due to blood accumulation. Brown or black spots usually spread to the skin around the nail, these spots may indicate a skin or eye neoplasm. Sometimes the nails may also turn black or green due to an overgrowth of bacteria called pseudomonas.
