here's an easy recipe to make Moong Dal Kheer:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
- 1 liter milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 10-12 cashews, chopped
- 10-12 raisins
Instructions:
- Rinse the moong dal well and soak it in enough water for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, drain the water and set aside.
- Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the soaked moong dal. Saute on low flame for 5-6 minutes till it turns light brown and fragrant.
- Add milk to the pan and bring it to boil. Reduce the heat and let the dal cook in milk until soft and fully cooked.
- Add sugar, cardamom powder, cashews and raisins. Mix well and simmer for 5-6 minutes until the kheer thickens.
- Turn off the heat and let the kheer cool down. Serve chilled or warm.
