here's an easy recipe to make Moong Dal Kheer:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
  • 1 liter milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 10-12 cashews, chopped
  • 10-12 raisins

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the moong dal well and soak it in enough water for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, drain the water and set aside.
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the soaked moong dal. Saute on low flame for 5-6 minutes till it turns light brown and fragrant.
  3. Add milk to the pan and bring it to boil. Reduce the heat and let the dal cook in milk until soft and fully cooked.
  4. Add sugar, cardamom powder, cashews and raisins. Mix well and simmer for 5-6 minutes until the kheer thickens.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the kheer cool down. Serve chilled or warm.
