Know through which portal you can block SIM cards
To prevent misuse of SIM cards, the Department of Telecom has introduced a portal that allows any Aadhaar cardholder to know the SIM card registered on their ID. This portal has TAF-COP, which helps the user to know how many SIM cards are running in his name and how he can block them.
How to block a SIM card
- First of all, click on the official portal of the Department of Telecommunications https//tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in.
- After clicking on the link, click on the homepage of TAF-COP portal. After this, you will see a box to enter the mobile number.
- Enter a mobile number that you have to check all the SIM cards linked to your Aadhaar card. After that click on the request button.
- After clicking on the request, you will see a new OTP screen. On this, you enter your OTP PIN.
- Now click on the validity button. If no OTP comes on your number, then click on Send OTP again.
- After OTP verification you will be logged in to TAF-COP. After this you will see the list of mobile numbers registered on your Aadhar card. Since all mobile numbers are linked with an ID card, this list will include all the mobile numbers linked to your Aadhar card.
- To report, identify the unknown mobile number and select the check box in front of it.
- If your number is not purchased by you, then you can select this option, 'This is not my number', if you do not need that number, then you can select the 'Not required' option.
- After clicking the option, click on the Report link given below. After this, after your request is successfully submitted by the Department of Telecommunications, the DOT will order the operator to block that number. In this way, you can block the extra SIM card.
