For the last five years, the Government of India is working on a war footing regarding cyber security. In this episode, new laws have been made for all social media companies. Now keeping cyber security in mind, the Ministry of Defense has made a big announcement. It has been said by the Ministry of Defense that the Windows operating system will be removed from all computers connected to the army and instead the indigenous operating system MayaOS will be installed. The Ministry has taken this step given the increasing cases of cyber attacks and the threat of data leaks. Let's try to understand what is MayaOS.
What is MayaOS?
MayaOS is also a kind of operating system. MayaOS will work in the same way as you use the Windows operating system or Mac operating system on your laptop and computer. MayaOS is built on the Ubuntu platform. Let us tell you that Ubuntu is considered the most secure operating system.
This is also used in ATMs etc. MayaOS has been developed by the Defense Ministry in collaboration with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the National Informatics Center, and the Center for Development of Advanced Computing. MayaOS is quite similar to the Windows operating system. Anyone can update it himself and work easily.
Chakraview in MayaOS
MayaOS is equipped with the Chakraview feature which acts like a firewall. It also acts as an antimalware antivirus. It is being claimed that the Chakraview of MayaOS creates a virtual layer between the user and the Internet, which hackers cannot penetrate. MayaOS has got the go-ahead from the Indian Navy, although the Air Force and the Army are yet to make any statement on it.
