Ingredients to make Masala Khichdi
Rice - half cup
Moong Dal - half cup
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Peas - 2 tbsp
Carrot small - 1
Capsicum - 2 tbsp
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Green chili chopped – 1-2
Green coriander leaves chopped - 1/4 cup
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Cumin - 1 tsp
Cloves – 3-4
Bay leaf - 1
Cinnamon - 1-inch piece
Desi ghee - 1 tbsp
Cardamom - 2-3
salt - as per taste
Masala Khichdi Recipe
To make tasty and healthy Masala Khichdi, first, clean the moong dal and rice and then wash them and soak them in water for some time. Now cut onion, tomato, and carrot into fine pieces. After this, put 1 spoon of desi ghee in the pressure cooker and heat it. After melting the ghee, add bay leaf, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, and a pinch of asafoetida and fry the spices. After some time, mix chopped onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste in the cooker.
When the color of the onion turns golden brown, add chopped tomatoes and cook. After some time the tomatoes will become soft, then put chopped carrots, capsicum, and peas in the cooker and cook for a minute. After this add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, and other dry spices and mix with the help of a ladle. After this add salt as per taste.
Now put the soaked dal and rice in the cooker and pour 4-5 cups of water on top and mix everything with the help of a ladle. Then add green coriander leaves and cover the cooker and cook till 4-5 whistles. During this, increase the flame of the gas. After the whistles, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker release on its own. After this open the lid. Tasty and healthy Masala Khichdi is ready for dinner. Serve it hot.
