Famous Lord Shiva Caves: The month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the month of Shravan, devotees visit Bholenath's temple, pagoda, and famous Jyotirlingas. The Amarnath Yatra continues, however, due to bad weather, it may be difficult for the pilgrims to see Baba Barfani.
Amarnath Yatra can also be called the most difficult religious journey. In the cave of Amarnath, a natural Shivling of ice is formed. Those who cannot go on the Amarnath Yatra due to the difficult route can visit other caves of Baba Barfani. Apart from Amarnath in India, there are various caves of Lord Shiva. Elephanta Caves, Maharashtra
Elephanta Caves are located on an island seven kilometers from Mumbai. Many forms of Lord Shiva are carved on the walls inside the cave. The number of these caves is seven, which can be reached only by boat. The Rashtrakuta kings discovered these caves around the eighth century.
Koteshwar Cave, Rudraprayag
There is a cave of Lord Shiva in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The name of this place is Koteshwar Cave which is situated on the banks of river Alaknanda. There are many Shivalingas in this natural cave, 15-16 feet long and two-six feet high. There is also a temple of Hanuman ji here, in which a life-size idol is installed.
Badami Caves, Karnataka
Badami is a historical city in the Bagalkot district of the state of Karnataka. A complex of Hindu and Jain cave temples is located in this city. There are four caves at this religious place, known as Badami Caves, out of which three are related to Hinduism and one is related to Jainism. One can see the idol of Lord Shiva and Shivling in the cave related to the Hindu religion.
Pallava Caves, Kerala
One of the many caves of Lord Shiva is also in the state of Kerala. Here are the Pallava caves inside Tiruchirappalli Rock Fort. These religiously important caves were built by the Pallavas. Temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are located in the Pallava cave.
Mandapeshwar Caves, Maharashtra
There is a temple dedicated to Shiva near Mount Pinsur in the Borivali area of Mumbai. This cave-cut temple was built around 1500 to 1600 years ago.
