1 cup rice and moong dal (mixed), 5 cups water, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, salt as per requirement, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon asafoetida, 3 tablespoons ghee

Method of making Khichdi

Making Khichdi is quite easy. To make it, first of all, wash moong dal and rice together and soak them. Soak it for about 40 minutes.

When it is soaked properly, heat the ghee in a cooker. When the ghee is hot, add cumin seeds, turmeric, and asafoetida to it. When the spices are roasted, add the soaked dal and rice to it. After this, add water in measured quantity and add salt at the end.

After mixing the salt properly, close the lid of the cooker and let it whistle 5-6 times. After 6 whistles, turn off the gas keep the cooker aside and then let its steam escape. After the steam escapes, open the lid of the cooker and then add coriander leaves on top to decorate it. You can serve it with rahata. Raita is also beneficial for the body in case of an upset stomach.
