JEE Mains 2023: This news is for those students who want to take admitted to IIT or NIT in 2023. Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided to give concessions to the students taking admission in institutes like IIT or NIT. According to various media reports, now students in the top 20 percentile of all education boards will be eligible to take admitted to IIT or NIT. Also, all of them will be given a chance to appear in JEE Advanced. Even if they have not obtained 75 percent marks in 12th, they will be given this chance. Till now, for this, the students must get at least 75 percent marks in their board of education.

As JEE Advanced already has the same criteria, this relaxation will also allow students to compete for admission to NITs.

According to the JEE Mains information voucher issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA), in addition to the All India Rank (AIR) of the candidates for engineering admission, they must have scored 75 percentile or above in class 12.
For SC/ST candidates, these scores are 65 percentile.

The same criteria were being followed earlier also, but it was suspended for the last three years due to the Covid pandemic. The main reason for this was the lack of uniformity in the commodity evaluation system on different boards.

According to the ministry, many of the top 20 percentile candidates in several state education boards score less than 75 percentile or 350 marks. So this scheme will help those candidates whose percentile score is less than 75 percent in aggregate in the class 12th board. As per reports, the ministry decided that if a candidate is in the top 20 percentile then he/she will be eligible. In this context, NTA may issue a notification soon. The online registration for the first session of JEE Main will end on January 12 and its exam will be conducted from January 24 to January 31, 2023.

However, the candidates and their parents opposed it. Along with this, many people have also demanded to postpone the exam on Twitter. It is noteworthy that a public interest litigation has been filed in the Bombay High Court to postpone JEE-Mains, which also includes the demand for relaxation of the 75 percent eligibility criteria.
