Instagram has become one of the most popular social media platforms in the world and one of the most used apps in India. However, now a viral social media post is claiming that Instagram may be banned in India by the end of this month.

A post is going viral on social media which claims that PM Modi's central government is planning to ban Instagram from mid-June as some content is floating on the social networking application.

According to the viral post, a screenshot of a news agency shows that the Center will ban Instagram from June 17 as the youth of the country are getting influenced by the 'wrong content' running on the website.

The post claimed that Instagram will not be made available to users and people will not be able to use the app from June 17. However, this claim of social media is false and the Center has not made any such claim through its officials.

Fact Check: Is Instagram banned in India?

Instagram still remains on the Google Play Store and the Apple iOS store, which means it hasn't been banned in India. The app is also working on all Android and Apple gadgets, which means it is still working in India.

Apart from this, no notification has been issued by the Government of India regarding this Instagram ban, and there is no news on the meta portal either. This means that the news of Instagram being banned in India is fake and the app will continue to function as before.

Instagram has been strict in following the guidelines of the Indian government, and so far has not faced any threat of ban in India.
