It is often seen that many people try to book more than a dozen tickets simultaneously, but fail. Many people keep trying to book tickets in groups also.

Book group tickets from the ticket counter

If three to four people want to travel together, you can easily book tickets online sitting at home. You can also book tickets for four to five people by going to the ticket counter, but if you want to book more than six tickets, then IRCTC does not provide this facility. For this, you will have to go to the ticket counter.

How to book a group ticket

If you want to book tickets in groups, you will need to follow some rules. It is said that if someone wants to book tickets in groups, then an application will have to be submitted to the CRS i.e. Chief Reservation Supervisor or Divisional Commercial Manager for group reservation.

Information about the travellers in the application, such as name, address, number of people, destination etc. After receiving the application, the concerned officer talks to the ticket officer and then the process of deducting the ticket starts.

Officer's permission for different groups

It is said that if someone takes tickets for 50 passengers under group booking, then permission has to be taken from the CRS (Chief Reservation Supervisor) or shift in charge.

Whereas if someone wants to make a booking for up to 100 people, then permission will have to be taken from the area manager. Apart from this, if someone wants to buy tickets for more than 100 people, then he has to get permission from the Senior DCM/DTM or Area Manager of the Railway Authority.

As per Indian Railways guidelines, group ticket working is from 8 AM to 9 PM on working days.
