Under this, it is being considered to introduce non-AC and general category trains for the passengers. According to media reports, while giving information about this, a senior railway official has said that these will be special trains. These will be operated during the festive season and summer season.
During festivals and the summer season, it is often seen that passenger trains are overcrowded. In such a situation, after the launch of this initiative by the Railways, the poor passengers would be expected to get a permanent solution.
If media reports are to be believed, low-income states where the waiting list for ticket booking is long. There new general trains without air conditioning will start running in January 2024.
In media reports, it is said that these trains will have general and sleeper coaches. These trains will have 22 to 26 bogies. Significantly, the Indian Railways has not yet given any information about these trains. According to media reports, the operation of these trains is being considered in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab, Assam, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
